  1. What is Virtual Web hosting?
    This means that you can find a home for your web site on ACME's high performance web servers as well as establish your presence on the Internet with your own unique domain name. This is a very intelligent and cost effective alternative to hosting your own web site in-house. ACME's shared hosting environment gives you the benefits of high performance servers, high bandwidth connectivity that can seamlessly grow with your needs, pre-installed software, guaranteed reliability and around-the-clock support, all at a small fraction of the cost of doing it yourself.

  2. Do you have an 'uptime' guarantee?
    Yes. We guarantee that our servers will be up a minimum of 99% of the time. If we fail in any given month, you receive one full free month of hosting service. Go to the VIEW OUR BACKBONE section, for a map of our high speed redundant backbone!

  3. Do you offer tech assistance by telephone?
    We find that email is far more efficient. Our email tech assistance will always get back to your within 6 hours maximum, more often within 2 hours or less. For our customers, we have created an opportunity utilize today's technology in a web interface. By using ACME's Trouble Ticket System, our customers can now view their Assistance Requests (ARs) via this searchable web tool. Rest assured if the problem requires a phone call we will set up a time to call you!

  4. What about Microsoft Frontpage Support?
    Our servers fully support Microsoft Frontpage 97,98 and 2000 HTML Editor and Publisher.

  5. What is the policy on spam?
    The sending of unsolicited commercial email, or "spam," is strictly prohibited. We maintain a "zero tolerance" policy on spam, and reserve the right immediately to terminate without warning any domain, without refund, that sends out unsolicited commercial email, in any amount.

  6. Do you offer unlimited hits?
    For the vast majority of domains, traffic never becomes an issue and yes, within reason, you should never worry about the number of hits your site receives, but as a practical matter, no provider can provide you with unlimited resources for a fixed price. Bandwidth costs money, and unlimited amounts of it are not available to anyone (not even Microsoft). Therefore, we set a limit on transfer per month on your domain (depanding on your plan) - anything over this we bill at $9/gigabyte. We reserve the right to shut down any site without notice that is in arrears on payments for overage on traffic.

  7. How do I get access to traffic statistics for my site?
    Very easily - go to this URL: www.yourdomain.com/wuseage. You'll find detailed reports in various formats on your traffic, including where hits are coming from, at what hours of the day, month, etc. Also you'll be able to tell which files are being requested as well as your entry and exit page (which we have found out is typically EXTRA at other hosting firms). This is essential for fine tuning your web marketing strategy! For people wanting access to RAW LOGFILES, we are planing on making those accessible at a later date. Check the SUPPORT SECTION for locating your RAW LOGFILES when this feature becomes available. (CUSTOMERS ONLY).

  8. Do you allow Adult Sites?
    Yes, but because of legal and traffic considerations, there are a number of special rules we must impose on adult sites. Contact sales@acme-ent.net for more details.

  9. Where are you located?

  10. Who are you guys? How did you get started?
    ACME Enterprises is a limited liability corporation (LLC) based in Alaska.

    We could do some type of marketing hype worthy of a movie of the week that would bring a tear to the eye, but that's not how we got started....

    ACME was started by people like yourself looking for efficient, inexpensive and feature rich hosting who wanted to be able to provide affordable hosting and web design that was easy to use and fun! It's that simple!

    We gladly assist you with your DHTML, PHP, CGI, PERL or JAVA scripts for free as part of our support program. We recommend checking the SUPPORT SECTION (customers only) as the solution might already be posted there. If you require web design services, we can do that for a fee. Just email us design@acme-ent.net and we will gladly give you a quote!

Domains
  1. How do I get a domain name?
    It's very easy - you just apply for one. We offer domain name registrations for our customers. Just go to GET A DOMAIN page and follow the instructions. WE AUTOMATICALLY ASSIGN YOUR DOMAIN NAME TO OUR DOMAIN NAME SERVERS -- no more copying nameserver names and IP's!

  2. Will you do the domain name registration for me?
    NOPE just go to GET A DOMAIN and follow the instructions. IT IS SO EASY YOU WON'T BELIEVE IT!

  3. How do I change my domain over from my old hosting company?
    First: go to www.directnic.com (or your domain registrar) and enter your domain name in the WHOIS system - check to see if you are the Administrative Contact - if you are, you can change over to our servers right online, on their site. Just follow the instructions to do a 'modify' on your domain. They will send an email to the address listed as Administrative Contact, just reply to that email and you should be changed within 24 hours. Change to our DNS servers, which are: redfish.acme-ent.net 64.65.56.62 redfish2.acme-ent.net 64.65.56.63 If you are NOT the Administrative Contact you must get in touch with the old hosting company and get them to do the change.

  4. What is a NIC handle?
    Every entity registered with Network Solutions (formerly InterNIC) has a NIC handle. You can use the same NIC handle as the contact for several domains. This way, if you make a change to the NIC handle (i.e., the e-mail address), all domains using that NIC handle will be updated as well.

  5. How long does it take before my domain name is active?
    Once the InterNIC announces that your domain name has been registered (or transferred, if applicable), it usually takes about 72 hours before it visible to all users of the Internet. All Internet providers must update their records (DNS tables) to reflect new site locations. This process is called propagation.

  6. Will I be able to access my domain name with or without the 'www.'?
    Yes, you will be able to access the domain name with or without the 'www.' in front. For example, you can access the domain name "mydomain.com" by going to "www.mydomain.com" as well as "mydomain.com".

Reselling
  1. Do you offer a reseller plan?

  2. What about reselling my space?
    You may resell space in your domain. Of course there are several ways to approach it. One is simply to sell directories in your space - www.yourdomain.com/client1 and then www.yourdomain.com/client2 and so on. The other method is to setup second tier domains on your account. That way you can have www.yourdomain.com and your client can have clientdomain.yourdomain.com all on your one account.   3. I'm a web designer...what's the best way to setup a client site?
    When we discuss situations like this with web designers, we always recommend that an account is purchased in advance. This provides you the necessary space and all the features needed for the client (IP address, space, MySQL, etc). This is so that when the work is finished for that client, all that is left is to simply transfer the domain to our servers. Even if it means purchasing our "Industrial" plan (our most comprehensive), you'll have 90 days to work on the website and only be out an additional $56.97 ($18.99 billed for 90 days)!

Accounts
  1. How long does it take to set up a new account ?
    All accounts are set up and active within 24 hours! Usually we get the job done within a couple of hours of your signing up. Once an account is set up an activation notice will be sent you via e-mail including a userID, password, and FTP hostname. You can begin uploading files to your new web site immediately thereafter. Domain account users will be given a temporary URL to access their site via the Web prior to the completion of either domain registration or transfer.
